Bachula, Frieda "Pat" Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Monday. July 11, 2016, at her home, at the age of 92 years. She was born July 27, 1923 in Saginaw, to the late George and Mary (Meier) Rexius. Pat grew up on a farm in Shields, Michigan. She attended high school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw. With the onset of World War II, Pat supported the war effort by going to work in a factory, U.S. Graphite Corporation, like so many other young "Rosie the Riveters" of the time. At the end of the war, one of her co-workers introduced her to his returning GI brother, Joe. She married Joseph F. Bachula not long after, on October 5, 1946, sharing 61 years together, until his passing on April 14, 2007. For a while after the war, Pat worked at the Red Horse Tavern on State Street in Saginaw, but then left work to raise a son and a daughter. Pat and Joe enjoyed dancing and playing cards, and had a circle of lifelong friends centered in their neighborhood on Roberts Street on Saginaw's east side. After raising two children, Pat went back to work to help pay for their college educations, first at F. W. Woolworth and then at Garber Buick, where she worked for over 16 years. Pat was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Saginaw for over 60 years, moving to Messiah Lutheran Church a few years ago. Besides her husband and parents, Pat was predeceased by her brothers, Henry Rexius, David Rexius, Edward Rexius, and Reuben Rexius; her sisters, Anna Fries, Katherine Krass, Marie Kionka, Edna Willman, and Betty Burr; and by her daughter, Sandra Kay Anderson, who predeceased her in 2010. She is survived by her sister, Emma Wenzel of Atlanta, Georgia; her son, Gary Bachula (Jane Woodfin) of McLean, Virginia; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lile (Rick Lile) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Shaun Anderson (Ali Anderson) of Sterling, Virginia; and Stephanie Bachula Warren (Michael Sloan Warren) of New York, New York; her great-grandchildren, Hudson Lile, Tucker Lile, and Bella Lile. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of service. Rev. Phillip DeVries will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Messiah Lutheran Church or a charity of their choice. www.casefuneralhome.com
