Caring wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend passed away at home with her family around her on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, at the age of 77. Gail was born on January 16th, 1945, in Cohasset, Massachusetts, to the late Edward & Vivian (Adams) Smith. On September 29th, 1963, at the age of 18, she married the love of her life Raymond “Ray” Tobias, after meeting him in an amusement park, and the two would spend more than 59 years together. He survives her. They had two children, Michael and Melissia, and the family that grew to surround them meant everything in the world to Gail. She was very proud of her family and treasured the opportunity to share its history with those she loved. An outgoing woman, Gail loved meeting new people and seemed to make friends everywhere she went. She loved shopping, especially for purses, and enjoyed going to the casino with Ray. She was the backbone of her family and always knew the right thing to do.
Gail is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ray; son Michael; daughter Melissia (Konrad); grandchildren Sam (Meredith), Kyle, Zach (Brie), Zale (Ariana), and Payton (Adrien); and great grandson Zeke; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and the countless friends she made everywhere she went.
Gail was preceded in death by brothers Doug, Bobby, Billy, and David; and sister Karen.
A funeral service for Gail will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at W.L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Bridgeport.
