Galen Clifford Grandy

Beloved brother and uncle passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, with his family by his side; at the age of 93 years.

Galen was born on March 13, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Saginaw High School class of 1949. Galen married Mable Davy on February 10, 1951, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Saginaw. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2021. Galen enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school and proudly served his country during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Galen opened Galen Sales and Service in Bridgeport after returning from his time in the military and spent his working years selling and servicing campers. In his free time, Galen held a pilot’s license and loved to travel in his RV with Mable, especially to Myrtle Beach. He also proudly supported his sons in their work as Eagle Scouts.

Galen is survived by brother Arman (Deb) Grandy, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and longtime family friend Marcia. Galen was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Mable Grandy. He was also preceded in death by sons Gary Grandy and David Grandy, and sisters Ellen Archambeau and Marilyn Longworth.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at W.L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps and American Legion Post 22. Pastor Jim Doran will preside, with burial is to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 a.m. to the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
