Gary Allen Stuckey of Freeland, Michigan
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpected on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 74 years old. Gary Allen Stuckey was born on May 18, 1949, in Defiance, Ohio, to the late Virgil and Velma (Johnson) Stuckey. At age 18, Gary bravely enlisted in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1970. Upon his return, he married Gail and attended Delta College. Gary later married Stephanie Brandimore on February 17, 1973, their union creating two beautiful children: Jill and Todd. Gary then married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Poyer, on April 14, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada; she preceded him in death on December 25, 2003. He was employed as a millwright with General Motors - Delphi, retiring after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime, and one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. An often a lucky man, Gary enjoyed taking yearly trips to the casinos in Las Vegas. He loved watching all sports, especially football and NASCAR. Gary's little piece of heaven traveling up state to the family cabin where he spent countless hours with family and friends on the boat. Though he could be stubborn at times, he will forever be remembered as calm, quiet, and reflective man with a beautiful spirit, as passionate orator and debater, for loving and spoiling his beloved grandchildren, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are a son, Todd Stuckey of Saginaw; Jillian (Marcelo) Juarez of Saginaw; seven grandchildren: Karissa, Alec, Alexis, Tomas, Cassandra, CJ, Anthony; six great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother: Linda Troyer, Ronald Stuckey, Bonnie Bennett, and Nancy (Mike) Coe all of OH. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Stuckey; parents, Virgil and Velma Stuckey; two brothers-in-law, John Troyer and Paul Bennett; and a sister-in-law, Amy Stuckey.
A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1209 Hancock Street. Pastor Sue Hand will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post #22. Cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
