Gene Lewis Koerber Saginaw, Michigan
Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 19, 2017, age 87 years. He was born on June 15, 1929 son of the late Clarence and Wanda (King) Koerber Sr., in Saginaw. Gene married Maryon Zorn on February 10, 1951, she predeceased him on January 28, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the City of Saginaw after many years of service. Gene was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1168. He enjoyed bowling and was past president of the Saginaw Bowling Association. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, gambling and cruising. Gene loved spending time with his family and they will miss his boisterous laughter and voice. He is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Linda and Dennis Reinke of St. Charles, Thomas and Laura Koerber of Rose City, MI, Timothy and Sherri Koerber of Holly, MI, Steven Koerber of Hurst, TX and William and Andrea Koerber of Dixon, MO; fourteen grandchildren and their spouses, Kristine and Todd Docken, Kimberly and Daniel Schroer, Matthew Reinke, Katrina Thompson, Michael and Lisa Reinke, Timothy and Rebecca Koerber, Christopher Koerber, Cynthia Koerber, Stan and Mariam DeLand, Christie DeLand, Nathaniel and Kelly Koerber, Brandon Koerber, Alisha Koerber and Joseph Koerber; 20 great grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Dale David, sister-in-law, Jackie Koerber; cousins, Jill and Robert Gifford; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Benjamin Koerber and Clarence Koerber Jr. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab Center. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Multiple Sclerosis Society and First Presbyterian Church.
