Genevieve Louise (Schram) Streb

Genevieve Louise (Schram) Streb Freeland, Michigan Genevieve was called home to her Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Age 91 years. She was born January 26, 1922, the only child of the late Rhine and Anna (Bublitz) Schram of Bay City, Michigan. She married Charles Streb of Saginaw on March 26, 1944. He passed away in 1995. She put off his proposals many times telling him, "Charlie, I just don't know how to cook." Genevieve quickly became part of the Streb clan. Charlie's five sisters, Pearl, Alice, Louise, Elizabeth(Betty) and Myrtle were the sisters she never had. Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl McAlindon, Brentwood, TN; Judy (John) Izzo, Kochville Twp; four grandchildren, Lance (Melinda) McAlindon, Franklin, TN; Christine (Samuel) Payne, Athens, AL; John Izzo, Saginaw; Laura Izzo, Saginaw; seven great grandchildren, Margaret, Elizabeth, James and Jonathan Parker McAlindon; Austin, Ella and Daniel Payne. Genevieve will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She learned the skills needed to be part of a vibrant farming family. The Streb (Breitenborn) family was among the original members of Kochville United Methodist Church when it was founded in the 1860's. Genevieve has been a member for 70 years. She played the organ, piano and sang at many church and school functions. Reading her Bible and putting her faith into action were important to her. Her voice on earth may be silenced, but she will be welcomed by the chorus of angels in heaven. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Kochville United Methodist Church, 6030 Bay Rd. Saginaw. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday and then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral service.
