George A. "Skip" Curtis, Jr. of Saginaw, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and St. Charles, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 82 years old. George A. Curtis Jr. was born on October 30, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late George A. and Natalie (Cherry) Curtis. Skip was a graduate of Saginaw High School. Following graduation he proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, serving in Washington D.C. and Panama until his honorable discharge. Skip met the love of his life, Judith Ann Robinet while working at Michigan Bell Telephone Company. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 1, 1960; she survives him. Skip was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a splicer for over 30 years. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beal City, as well as the Knights of Columbus Post #3651. Skip was a current member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature, as well as the sportsmanship and conservation of fishing and hunting. Throughout his life, Skip enjoyed traveling with Judy and his family across the United States and to many countries in Europe. He will forever be remembered for his hard work ethic and indomitable spirit.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Judy A. Curtis of Saginaw; daughter, Tracey Curtis of Freeland; two sisters: Lynda Weigl of Hemlock; Dixie (Jim) LaPan of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Ann Curtis of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Anthony Curtis; four brothers: Jerry (Donna) Curtis, Jim Curtis, Richard (DeeDee) Curtis, and Tom Curtis; three sisters, Shirley (Dick) Lewis, Beverly (Don) Case, and Susie Fairbanks; and brother-in-law, Bud Weigl.
Honoring Skip's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 300 Johnson Street, Freeland. Rev. Fr. Andrew LaFramboise will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
