Salmer, George S. Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Age 90 years.
George was born June 15, 1924, in Saginaw County, son of the late George and Zelma (Schultz) Salmer. He graduated from Saginaw High Class of 1942. He met the love of his life Betty Darling at a dance at the Golden Glow and were later married on August 5, 1950. George worked as a sheet metal worker and retired from Freeland Fabrication. He loved to tinker around in his garage and could build or fix anything. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. George is survived by his son, George (Cheryl) Salmer and his daughter, Joy Spadafore; his grandchildren, Tera Parker and fianc Ian Pilak, Stacey (Chris) Brown, Stephanie Salmer, Jenny (CJ) Phillips, and Tammy Spadafore; his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Jessica and Tyler Phillips. Along with his parents and wife Betty, he is predeceased by three brothers, Clarence, Robert and Charles Salmer; one sister, Helen Balewicz and one son-in-law, Richard Spadafore.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Pastor Jim Young will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
