Gerald Edward Babcock

Gerald Edward Babcock Bridgeport, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Covenant Cooper. Age 78 years. The son of the late Florence (Hinkle) Babcock Ranke and Robert Babcock was born December 20, 1936 in Flint, Michigan. He married Sandra Lou Hauk, May 6, 1967. She survives him. Gerald attended St. Lorenz Lutheran School and was confirmed in his faith in 1950, then followed by high school in Birch Run. Jerry studied electronics and became an electrical production engineer at WKNX-TV. Later opening and operating two television sales and repair stores in Bridgeport and Shields, later operating Jerry's Party Shop and Coin Exchange in Shields until his retirement in 2000. He and his wife, Sandy, traveled in Europe and the Caribbean. He had been a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Surviving besides his wife, Sandy, are two sons and their wives, Steven and Candace Babcock; David and Judy Babcock, all of Saginaw, MI; six grandchildren Alicia and Thomas Babcock; Jessie and Jennifer Holcomb; Ashley and Amber Babcock; a great grandson, Matthew; three brothers and their wives, Donald and Rena Babcock, Saginaw, MI; Gary and Diana Ranke, Birch Run, MI; Wallace Ranke, Sebewaing, MI; his mother-in-law, Betty Hauk; two brothers-in-law, Randy and Rick Hauk; a sister-in-law, Brenda North, all of the Saginaw/Bridgeport area; several nieces, nephews and his special friend and golf partner, Dexter. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Babcock. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Hwy. Rev. James Chinery, pastor of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Birch, Run, will officiate with burial in Birch Run Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
