Gerald Herbert Preuss

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023.

Gerald Herbert Preuss was born in Hemlock, Michigan, on March 11, 1937, the son of the late Herbert and Selma (Roggow) Preuss. He graduated from Hemlock High School, class of 1955. Gerald married Nancy Albrandt on November 17, 1956. They celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage together and God was always in their life. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock and was active in the church for many years. He was involved with the church men’s club and served as a trustee and head usher. Most important to him was his faith and family and friends. He enjoyed sports and played football, basketball, and enjoyed pitching on the fastpitch softball team at for St. Peter Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching the grandkids sporting events as they grew up. He worked for Hemlock Elevator and Hemlock Semi-Conductor for twenty-five years. He farmed all his life and was a Hemlock School Bus Driver. His main goal in life was to keep the family farm, which dates back to 1875. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Michigan football fan.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife sixty-seven years, Nancy Preuss; children, Douglas Preuss of Hemlock, Gary Preuss of Hemlock, Lavonne  Hutchison of Saginaw, and Mike and Char Preuss of Saginaw; grandchildren, Jonah and Evan Hutchison of Saginaw and Sam Hutchison of Saginaw; great-grandchildren, Jackson Holmes, Matilda and Georgia Hutchison all of Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Preuss; daughter-in-law, Kay Lynn Preuss; sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Lowell Doyle and sister-in-law, Shirley and TN Sheffer.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N Raucholz Rd, Hemlock, MI 48626, with interment to follow in Richland Lutheran Cemetery.
