Loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday April 15, 2018 at the age of 83 years. The son of the late Daniel Leo and Hulda (Wardin) Kennelly was born on October 12, 1934 in Hemlock. He married Elizabeth Siler on October 15, 1960; she predeceased him on September 4, 2009. Gerald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 439. He worked as an iron worker for the Local 25. Jerry loved his work, social life and family. He proudly spoke of his work on the Mackinaw Bridge. Surviving are two daughters and a son: Kimberly (James) Flynn of Grand Rapids, MI, Gary (Peggy Braley) Kennelly of Saginaw, MI, Mary (Steve) Riley of Lake Orion, MI; four grandchildren: Ryan and Kevin Flynn, Caroline and Mitchell Riley, one sibling: Lois Wetmore of Midland, MI. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters: William, Patrick, John Kennelly, Mary Gorsline and Rosemary Early. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI. with military interment at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion 439. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 439 Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society.
