Geraldine Joyce King

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend passed away November 17th, 2023 at the age of 94. Geraldine (Geri) was born September 23, 1929 to the late Ethel Marie (Clay) and Carl Smith. She was born and raised in Saginaw Michigan, where she lived her entire life. She married Burtcel William King Jr on February 14, 1948. Together they had five children and while her children were young she was a stay at home Mom. Once her children were older, Geri got a job at St. Luke's hospital where she worked in the cafeteria for a number of years until she retired. After retiring she spent a number of years babysitting until she chose to finally retire from work in 1997. Geri loved her family and enjoyed having them around. Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas meant big meals with the family spread throughout the house. Summers meant barbeques in the backyard and camping with her family. Traverse City State Park was her favorite place to camp with her grandkids. Geri also helped to raise her two grandsons. She also enjoyed having her two granddaughters come over to visit. Later, after she had great-grandchildren, she also enjoyed spending time with them. Geri was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport where she faithfully went to church for many years and made many friends who shared her faith.

Geri is survived by one daughter and two sons Ruthmarie Medearis, William (Ruth) King, and Dennis (Vicki Ruggles) King; three granddaughters and three grandsons, Sabrina (Scott) Moore, Eric King, Melissa King, Nick (Stephanie Dettmer) King, Tommy Ruggles, and Bonnie Ruggles; three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons, Autumn Knowlton, Zachary Knowlton, Abigail King, Connor Westphal, Lucas King, Christopher King. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Burtcel; son Wayne King; daughter Debra King; brother Sonny Boy; brother and sister-in-law William and Shirley Smith; sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Carl Legner; sister and brother- in-law Alice and Ed Kellogg. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law Ruth and Burtcel King Sr. and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Friends may pay their respects from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm on Sunday November 26, 2023, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. A showing will also be held at 10:00 am on Monday November 27, 2023 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, 2400 King Rd. Saginaw, MI 48601.
