Geraldine Ruth was born to John and Mollie Humpert on November 17, 1943. And she left this life to join them in Heaven on December 17, 2024. Geraldine graduated from Merrill High School in 1962 and married Robert Schwind that October. She spent most of her adult life the owner of a craft business Geri’s Wood ‘N’ Things. She also managed several craft stores in the shopping malls in her area of Pontiac Michigan. Her eye for design and creativity was appreciated by several family members as she planned their wedding and baby showers. Whenever there was a family event she was the go to person for decorations and planning. When her son was younger she had a day care in her backyard and even made graduation gowns for her 5 students.
Geri, as she was fondly called, spent her last few months at Wellbridge Rehab in Clarkston Michigan following surgery for brain cancer. She will be greatly missed by her remaining siblings’ sisters Bernadine and husband Bill Ayres of St. Helen, Jackueline and husband Les of Wheeler, and Brother Samuel and wife Annie Humpert of Frederic. She also leaves behind a son Robert and wife Carmen Schwind, and granddaughter Sabrina Schwind all of Orion. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Schwind, father John Humpert, mother and stepfather Jake and Mollie Karst, brother Bernard Humpert, niece Mollie Callaway and her son Jordan, nephews Dennis and Jon Humpert, and her good friend George Rodman
She loved to decorate her home extensively for every holiday and even though she loved celebrating everything her wishes were that her home going would be simple.
There will be a graveside service at Lakefield Cemetery Friday December 20th at 1:00 officiated by Brad Harris of Merrill Wesleyan Church. Arrangements were entrusted to W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the service or by visiting www.casefuneralhome.com.
