Gertrude Greene

Gertrude Greene Bridgeport, Michigan Passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Friesen) Banman was born March 24, 1923 in Gretna, Manitoba, Canada, coming to the U.S.A. in 1945. She proudly became a Naturalized Citizen in 1954. She married Eldred Howse, August 18, 1945. He passed away. Later she married Peter Hiebert and then Rex Greene. They have also predeceased her. She was a nurse, specializing in geriatric care and owned and operated the Bridgeport Geriatrics Home. She had been a member of Bridgeport Community Church. She had been active in area politics and had served as a State delegate for the Democratic Convention in the 1960. She enjoyed music, playing the guitar and keyboard, and she liked to cook. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Esther Howse; three grandsons, Andy, Steve and Keith Howse; a great granddaughter, Nataja; a sister, Dora Hoeppner; two nephews, two nieces and their spouses, Kenneth Hoeppner and Kathleen Hogan; Roy and Vic Zimmerman; Joyce and Dennis Dingle, and June Kampstra.
