Gilbert Speckhard Saginaw Township Passed away Tuesday May 14, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Gilbert was born January 19, 1922 in Saginaw, the son of the late Emanuel E. and Florence M. (Sowatsky) Speckhard. Gilbert served in the US Army during WWII, Persian Gulf Command. He married Audrey June Clark on July 16, 1955, and she predeceased him in 1964. He then married Margaret Jean Robson on July 23, 1994, and she predeceased him in 2005. Gilbert attended Bethlehem Lutheran Elementary, North Intermediate, Arthur Hill High School, Bay City Junior College, University of Wisconsin, Kansas State College, and Washington University. He had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Co. Plant, for 37 years. He was an active member of Germania Club since 1946 and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing amd crossword puzzles. His favorite music was Dixieland jazz. Gilbert enjoyed watching TV: any sport and public TV. He loved spending time at his fishing cabin, S. Manistique Lake, Curtis MI; Robson Cottage, Mullett Lake, Topinabee, MI, and the Texan Restaurant with his Michigan Bell buddies. Surviving are three children, Gary (Donna) Speckhard, Pleasant Hill, OH; Randall (Stacy) Speckhard, Midland; David Speckhard, Saginaw; his grandchildren, Audrey J. Speckhard, Thomas Township; Anthony D. Speckhard; stepchildren, Randall Robson, Ann Arbor; Martha Jo (Wesley) Thomas Township; step-grandchildren, Jared (Erica) Wesley, Fairview Park, OH; Jeremy Wesley, Fairview Park, OH; and a step-great-grandchild, Dylan Wesley, Fairview Park, OH. Gilbert was predeceased by his sisters, Eileen (Wilber) Wagner, Mary Bacon and Donna Speckhard. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday May 17, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway. Rev. Paul Biber will officiate with burial to follow in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
