Glen Ray Morningstar Sr, Waterford, Michigan Glen Morningstar, age 90 years, passed away peacefully at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan, on May 31, 2015. Glen was born April 17, 1925, at the Case home in Thomas Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. His parents were Hugh and Florence (Krenz) Morningstar. Glen graduated from Hemlock High School in June, 1943, and married Ruth Creller on January 12, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. Glen and Ruth met at a Grange dance. Glen attended Michigan State Agricultural College from 1948-1950 where he received his Farm and Grain Elevator Management Degree. In 1952, Glen and Ruth purchased the 160 acre farm directly north of Hugh and Florence at 12660 Dice Road. The family belonged to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School in nearby Hemlock, and their four children attended that school while growing up working this farm. Glen and Ruth would sell this farm as Glen took leadership positions with grain elevators in Caledonia, Quincy, and Yale, Michigan. Glen retired while managing the Yale Elevator. While living in Yale, he was on the volunteer fire department, and he and wife Ruth were EMT's. They lived a number of years in Hersey, Michigan, before moving to Waterford, Michigan. Glen was a Master Gardener and continued to grow flowers and vegetables up to his passing. Glen is survived by his four children and their spouses, Glen Morningstar Jr. (Judi), Susan Whitman (Larry), Mark Morningstar (Debra) and Dorothy Burghardt (Tom). He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A memorial celebration will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015 at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw 48609. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the celebration.
