Gloria Mae Blakely

Passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Age 89 years.
The daughter of the late Milicent (Erskine) and Adam Fox was born June 24, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Hemlock High School, where she played basketball and participated in the school play. She married Arland Blakely, June 11, 1952. Her husband of 69 years survives her. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Sunshine Bakery. She loved to read, garden, knit, crochet, study genealogy and take trips with her sisters. Most of all she loved to help her family, friends and neighbors. She was always ready to help with their gardens, shovel their driveways or cut their grass. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, always playing games with them, and she enjoyed building a snowman for each grandchild and a hill for sledding.
Surviving besides her husband, Arland, are four children and their spouses, Terri (John) Freeman; Daniel (Jaye) Blakely; Arland Blakely; Doris (Thomas) Lasich; eight grandchildren, Jessica Freeman, Amanda (Nate) Ferrier, Randy( Megan) Borregard, Cathy Borregard, Jeanne Blakely, Rebecca Blakely, Caitlin and Christopher Lasich; three great grandchildren, Alex and Nicole Ferrier, Ada Borregard; two sisters, Maxine Goschke, Margaret (Don) Schwind; her aunt, Shirley Erskine; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter, Pamela Blakely Borregard, her daughters-in-law, Terrie (Moffett) Blakely and Christy (Hawes) Blakely, her sisters, Doris (Ed) Anaman, Peggy (Roy) Greif; a brother-in-law, Norm Goschke and two nieces, Debra Flewelling and Jennifer Johnson.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Ken David will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Diabetes Assoc. "I love you more."
