Slick, Gordon Ward Merrill, Michigan
Passed away Saturday April 23, 2016, surrounded by his family at St. Francis Home. Age 92 years. Gordon was born May 29, 1923, to the late Ford and Ula (Beird) Slick in Fremont Township. Gordon served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Merrill and worked forty-five years at the Standard / Amoco gas station. He was well known for repairing tractor tires in farmers' fields all over the area. Gordon married Lucille Hoppe on June 18, 1955. Their marriage was blessed with six children; Charles Slick, Randy (Penny) Slick, Louann (Tim) Rohn, Ronald Slick, Christine (Gerald) Eurich and Aaron (Heather) Slick; six grandchildren; Michael, Rebecca, Tyler, Adam, Emmy and Cassidy; four great-grandchildren; Kenley, Grayson, Alaina and Alex. His wife and all of their offspring survive him. He will be mourned by many nieces and nephews and his cousin/sister Jean Goward. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the staff at St. Francis home for the exceptional care provided during Gordon's last weeks, especially his buddy Shidana. Funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 27, 2016 Rev. Doug Basset will officiate. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 125 E. Saginaw St Merrill, MI. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
