Hetzner, Harold H. (Pete) Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Saturday November 16, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Harold was born April 14, 1923 in Saginaw the of son the late Conrad and Katherine (Hammerbacher) Hetzner. He was married to Rose E. Arndt, his loving wife, of 67 years; on June 22, 1946. She survives him. Harold served in the military service as a non-commissioned officer during World War II and was assigned to the 16th and 4th Armored Division. He was currently a member of the VFW Post #1566. After completing military service, he was gainfully employed by Garber Pontiac (Mechanic); Mobil Oil Corporation (Sales) and Buena Vista School District (Director of Transportation) until his retirement in 1978. He loved coaching little league baseball but truly loved other sports as well. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and during his retirement he served as a handy man and in other activities for many years. Surviving besides his wife Rose, are children; Daughter Rosalind (Thomas) Longo and Son Randall (Ethel) Hetzner. Grandchildren; Eric (Angela) Krenz, Thomas R. (Jessica) Longo Jr., Katherine (Jory) Snowden, Carl Hetzner and Ann Marie (Brion) Bissell; great-grandchildren; Ashley and Sydney Krenz, Samantha and Jacob Peter Longo, Tyler and Lizzie Snowden; Also surviving are a sister-in-law Margaret Hetzner and many nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters Albert, Emil, Wilmer, Arnold, Otto, Eldor, Loretta Sommerfield and Helen Durrenberg. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 20, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church 3427 Adams Ave. Rev. Paul Hinz will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of the VFW Post 1566. Friends may call at the W.L. Case Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Peace Lutheran Church/ Restore and Renew.
