Harriett Ruth Armstrong

Armstrong, Harriett R. Bridgeport, Michigan Went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 21, 2015, with her family by her side. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late Arthur B. and Dora M. (Kessel) Lange was born March 5, 1922. She married Charles William Armstrong, July 3, 1942. He survives her. They would have celebrated 73 years together this summer. Harriett lived in the Bridgeport area most of her life. She had been a member of Bridgeport Community Church for over 75 years, faithfully serving her Lord. She was a charter member of the Women's Guild which she loved very dearly. She loved Church activities, Christmas Bazaars, Harvest Dinners and rummage sales. She had so many close friends at the church and in their neighborhood, many of whom will be welcoming her in Heaven. She also enjoyed raising flowers, plants, and feeding the birds. She especially enjoyed all the many happy years spent at their summer home on the Manistee River in Grayling with family, friends, canoeing, tubing, fishing and picking blueberries. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong spent winters in Sarasota Florida. Harriett was a wonderful homemaker, taking great pride in her cooking and canning. She was the world's best mother and devoted wife and will be greatly missed by all. We'll always remember those evening card games. She also bowled, golfed and collected antiques. She is survived by her husband, Charles, two sons and a daughter, Wayne (June) Armstrong, all of Bridgeport, MI; Sally Mihalic, Traverse City, MI; Tim Armstrong and his friend, Judy Ferguson, Birch Run, MI; six grandchildren, and their spouses, Wayne Armstrong Jr. and Tracy; Mark (Kim) Armstrong; Wendi (Kyle) Barber; Richard Mihalic Jr. and Lisa; Michael (Tricia) Mihalic; Jody Mihalic; thirteen great grandchildren; her special friends, Andy and Cathy Urban, Winnipeg, Manitoba; She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Bernie Lange, James Lange, her sisters, Rose Mary Lange and Lois DuPuis and an infant daughter, Janine. Harriett's family would like to extend a grateful "thank you" to Wellspring Lutheran Nursing Home of Frankenmuth, for the special care provided and to her special "Nurse Mary" who she loved so much. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St. Bridgeport, MI. Rev. Ronald L.
