Harvey Nothelfer passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 3, 2018. He was 75 years old. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and coach.
Harvey was born on September 15, 1943 in Hemlock, Michigan to Roland and Nora Nothelfer. He married the love of his life, Peggy Nothelfer in 1967, and the couple had five children. Harvey was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He coached Hemlock boys Little League Baseball and girls high school JV softball teams for 18 years. He owned the Evergreen Bar from 1976 to 1980. Harvey worked for 35 years before retiring from Dow Chemical. Harvey loved his family, friends, travel, laughing, farts, horse racing, casinos and life. Everyone who met Harvey walked away smiling.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy; their sons, Matthew Harvey (Alicia), Mark, Mike and sons Michael Richard & Alex, Marty and son Marshall, Montgomery (Ashley) son Gabriel, daughter Taylor Krzyminski and son Simon; his sisters, Marilyn Balley and Gale Beagle; also many nieces, nephews and cousins he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry.
Harvey decided to have his remains cremated. A quiet remembrance gathering is scheduled this Friday December 7, 2018, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Richland Township Hall on Elm Street.
In accordance to his wishes, Harvey's big and fun "Celebration of Life" party will be held December 29th 1:00 pm at the Hemlock VFW Hall. All are welcome to attend either the gathering or both events. Celebrate Harveys amazing life and always remember: "FIRE IT UP! FIRE IT UP! FIRE IT UP!"
