Hedwig “Heidi” Osterloh of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. She was 95 years old. Hedwig Payk was born on November 24, 1925, in Johannesberg, East Prussia, to the late Otto and Anna Payk. She met the love of her life, Geroge F. Osterloh, while attending a dance in Westerstede, Germany. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 5, 1950; he survives her. In March 1954, George and Heidi immigrated to the United States. She was a faithful longtime member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Heidi treasured and cherished the time she spent with her family and was an avid reader. She will forever be remembered for creating wonderful German dishes and desserts, her kindness, and for the love she had for those she loved.

Surviving are her husband of 70 years, George Osterloh of Saginaw; three sons and one daughter: Rainer Osterloh of Wentzville, MO; daughter, Hilke (James) Stone of Saginaw; George (Joy) Osterloh of Traverse City; Peter (Kim) Osterloh of Wheeler; three granddaughters: Christina (Richard) Duree of St. Louis, MO; Karissa (Matt) Markham of Macomb; Stacey Todd of Saginaw; three great-grandchildren: Parker, Olivia, and Gibson Markham; brother, Karl (Carole) Payk of Rapid City; two sisters-in-law: Trudy Payk of Saginaw; Judy Payk of Saginaw.
She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Maryanne Osterloh; grandson-in-law, Terry Todd; three siblings: Eric Payk, Erna (Nick) Laubenstein, Gunther Payk.
Honoring Hedwig’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8695 Gratiot Road. Pastor Julie Bailey will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
