Helen C. Kempter (Rethman)

Formerly of Saginaw Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the age of 90 years. Helen Caroline Rethman was born July 14, 1925, to the late Herman and Nora (Prueter) Rethman. She married John L. Kempter March 25, 1944; he predeceased her December 5, 1969. A daughter, Barbara A. Kempter, also predeceased her in 1984. Helen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Baase; three grandchildren, Tracy (Paul) Wardlow, Jerry (Gina) Baase, and Duane Baase; four great-grandchildren, Travis, Jenna, Amber and Kayla Baase; sister-in-law, Donna Rethman of Manistique; many dear nieces, nephews and their families; a dear aunt, Betty Hauk. Helen was also predeceased by her step-mother, Alvina Rethman; four brothers, Marvin, Donald, Edward "Dewey" and Herman "Mike" Rethman; four sisters, Dorothy Weigandt, Ruby Smith, Elaine DeCaire and Evonne Daniels. Helen's family would like to thank the entire staff at Wellspring Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth and Wellspring Hospice for their kindness and care. They also thank Dr. Ruth Licht and staff for many years of great care. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where her family will receive friends from 2:00 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and then on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev.
