Saginaw, Michigan Passed away April 10, 2016 at the age of 97 years. Helen was born on June 15, 1918 in Benton Harbor, Michigan but spent most of her adult life as a Saginaw resident. She attended Ferris University where she graduated in 1936 as a pharmacist. While at Ferris, Helen met Bert C. Brennan, also a pharmacist, and they were wed September 4, 1938. The couple moved to Saginaw after Helen graduated and Bert became co-owner of Princing and Brennan Pharmacies that were located on 14th and Janes Streets and State and Court Street. Helen helped at both locations and worked at Saginaw General Hospital as a pharmacist. The couple had four children. Bert was also elected to the Michigan House of Representatives and both he and Helen were active in the Republican Party. Helen enjoyed traveling but was very involved in the Saginaw community where she was a member of the Germania, the Bay City Yacht Club, the Saginaw Culture Club, and Warren Avenue Presbyterian Church. Helen also belonged to the American Association of University Women and the Women's National Farm and Garden Association. Helen was one of the founders of the Saginaw chapter of Crime Stoppers and did extensive volunteer work with the Red Cross. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, her daughter, Anne Brennan, and her son, Timothy Brennan. Left to dearly miss her are her daughters, Jackie (Jerry) Meyer and Bertie Gilbert; grandchildren, Jill Bates, John Moon, Tonya Walrod, Charles Moon, Alyson Woodend, Benton Meyer, Jessica Gilbert; Corey Gilbert, Jacob Gilber, plus thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, her Jack Russell named Biff and numerous friends that Helen cherished very much. A service in Helen's memory will take place at Warren Avenue Presbyterian Church at 612 Millard Street on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A short visitation will precede the service at 10:30 a.m. The family invites friends to join them for a luncheon at the church directly after the service to share happy memories of Helen (Da).
