Helen June Smith (Kumaus)

Smith, (Kumaus) Helen June Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Monday January 27, 2014 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre at the age of 90 years. Helene June Barry was born July 8, 1923, in Elkton, Michigan, the daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy (Burczyk) Barry. She married Carl Kumaus in 1946 and he predeceased her April 1, 1993. Helen was a member of St. George Catholic Church and an auxiliary member of the Altar Society. Surviving Helen are her children, Dennis (Michelle) Kumaus, CA; Duane (Denise) Kumaus, Saginaw; James (Minnie) Kumaus, Saginaw; and Ronald Smith; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters; Eugene Barry, Virginia Plevnia and Marge Heckman; many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by five sisters and one brother; Ethel Zaremba, Janet Ross, Elizabeth Krohn, Anna Mae Lee, Marion Lane and Louis Barry. Funeral liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday January 31, 2014, at St.Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. George Campus, 2120 Erie St. Rev. Thomas Schmied will officiate with entombment to follow in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd., on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. where they may meet at 7:30 p.m. for a vigil service. They may then call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy.
