Helen Louise Gross

Helen Louise Gross Saginaw, MI Passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Wellspring Assisted Living. Age 99 years. The daughter of the late Anna (Reisig) and John Ziegler was born December 26, 1919 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School and attended Saginaw Business Institute. She married Keith D. Gross, May 26, 1941. He passed away April 4, 1992. Helen was employed by General Motors, Saginaw Transmission, for several years. She was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church and many of the church activities. She was a prolific and avid knitter, often donating hats, sweaters and items to the City Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army and local Hospitals. She enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful rose garden. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and was a member of a Bridge Club for over 50 years. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Poplewski and her husband, Alan; Nancy English and her partner, Elaine Pogoncheff; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jill and Matt Williams; Brian and JoAnn Poplewski; Jay and Laura Gross; five great grandchildren, Noah, Natalie, and Molly Gross; Graham and Joslyn Poplewski; many nieces, nephews and her special friends, Jean Seaman and Sharon Beutel. A daughter, Sally Gross, a sister, Doris Herzberger, three brothers, Norman, George and Edward Ziegler, have predeceased her. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Rd. Saginaw. Rev. James Neumann will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with family at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
