Helen M. "Gaertner" Dunlap of Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at St. Francis Home in Saginaw. She was 93 years old. Helen M. Gunlock was born on August 9, 1925 in Saginaw to the late Allyn and Linda (Bruns) Gunlock. She was a proud graduate of St. Marys School of Nursing and was employed for well over 20 years with Dr. M.B. Goldberger. Helen was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all 49 states, all but Hawaii. Above all, she loved knitting, crocheting and needle point. Whatever she touched always turned into a beautiful work of art. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Francis Nursing Home for the many years of love and compassion they provided to Helen. Surviving are a daughter, Gail (Steve) McDonald of Birch Run; three grandchildren, Christopher (Cheryl) McDonald of Birch Run, Jenny (Tom) Esper of Brighton and Meghann (Brad) Smith of Birch Run; seven great-grandchildren, Bella and Madilyn McDonald, Kylee, Jackson, Jayden and Lincoln Smith, and Parker Esper; a sister-in-law, Donna Falk of Saginaw; and a good friend, Howard Hamond of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Orth. A private service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 3440 S. Washington Road. Rev. Robert Richards officiated with burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis Nursing Home.
