Henry "Sonny" Ecker

Henry "Sonny" Ecker Tavares, Florida Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 in Florida with his family at his side, at the age of 70 years. Sonny was born July 10, 1948, the son of the late Raphia Milo and Anna Cecilia (Roche) Ecker. He went to Douglas MacArthur High School. He worked for many years at Excel Direct Saginaw Warehouse. He married the love of his life, Wilma Letson, on October 24, 1980, in Saginaw; she preceded him in death on April 16, 2015. He was a member of Calvary Community Church and Saginaw Gun Club. He enjoyed restoring hot rods, riding motorcycles, and camping with his family at the Wilderness Campground. Above all, Sonny loved the time he spent with his family. Surviving are his children; Robert (Pam) Ecker of North Carolina, Hank (Christina) Ecker of Florida, Robin (Joe) Pluto of Saginaw, Roxanne (Tim) Ausema of Grant; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ellen Brethauer and Judy Cummings. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Billie Connor; brother, Buddy Ecker; and a sister, Brenda Church. Honoring Henrys wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Sonnys Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on July 13, 2019 at Calvary Community Church, 2895 E. Moore Road. Pastor Ted Doolittle will officiate. Friends may visit the family from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the time of service at the church.
