Herbert Lee Wade Hemlock, Michigan Passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at his home. Age 95 years. The son of the late Mary Susan (Scoles) and James Cecil Wade was born June 17, 1921 in Decatur, Indiana. He married Mildred Doyle, April 17, 1948. His wife of 68 years survives him. He was employed by Dow Corning Corp. retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock. He was a volunteer fireman for Richland Township for 48 years, serving as Chief from 1978 to 1985. He enjoyed watching area farmers at work and was an avid hunter of small game. He hunted deer in the Upper Peninsula for 50 years. He was a Detroit Tiger Baseball and Duke Basketball fan, but most of all, he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife, Mildred, are four daughters, one son and their spouses, Connie and Mark Richardson; Brenda and Jerry Gartzke; Barbara and Matt Wardin; Gary Wade; Lori and Bill Britton; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; five sisters, two brothers, Agnes Myers; Pauline Richardson; Bruce Wade; Grace Chase; Bill Wade; Margaret Suppes and Mary Ellen Smith; numerous nieces and nephews. Five brothers, two sisters, Howard, Eugene, Clarence, Carl and James Wade, Edith Hand and Alice Huey have predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 Raucholz Rd. Hemlock, MI. The Rev. Dr. William L. Morris and Rev. Richard E. Mundt will officiate. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and then on Friday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
