Herman A. Mumby Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at HealthSource. Age 92 years The son of the late Elsie (Smith) and Archie Mumby was born March 6, 1924 in Flint, Michigan. He married Joan Carpenter, June 21, 1947. She survives him. He graduated from Flint Central High School and attended General Motors Institute. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded a bronze star during the Battle of the Bulge and was a member of American Legion Post #439. He was employed as a manufacturing engineer with General Motors, retiring with 37 years of service in 1980. Following one day of retirement he became a Manufacturing Rep, serving until 1987. Mr. and Mrs. Mumby had spent 10 years in Decatur, Alabama. Herman was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving besides his wife, Joan, are two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Alan and Margot Mumby; James Mumby and Alison Ernst; Nancy and Dan Welke; six grandchildren, Blake and Kris Mumby; Ashley Mumby; Brandon Mumby; Kyle and Julie Mumby; Jeff Spooner; Amy and Dave Reitz; four great grandchildren, Christopher, Zoey and Connor Mumby, Miles Spooner; two sisters, Thelma Yuille and Pearl Goodroe; many nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother, Hazel Miller, Phyllis Daenzer and Robert Mumby have predeceased him. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw. Rev. David Jordan will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Chapel from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Monday.
