Latty, Herman R. (Latta) Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 86 years. He was born January 11, 1927, in Saginaw, the son of the late Eva (Tyler) and Earl Latty. He graduated from Arthur Hill Technical School. He served with the US Navy during World War II in the Philippines, serving from 1944 until 1946. He married Shirley M. Stewart on May 28, 1949; she survives him. He retired from General Motors Grey Iron Foundry after over 40 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 439 and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 497, in Shields. He loved hunting and fishing and playing cards, especially Euchre. He also loved working in his yard and growing flowers. Surviving are his wife, Shirley; two sons and one daughter, Randy Latty, Pinewood, SC; Ronna Sue Catterfield, Chesaning; John Latty and Rhonda Hollingsworth, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Jonathon Latty, Samantha and Katie Catterfield, Matthew and Jessica Latty and Lucas Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Lena and Chase Recker; three brothers, Chester, Clare and Russell Latty, all of Saginaw; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by three sisters and five brothers, Florence Thomas, Arlene, Margaret, Earl, Melvin, Hugh, Herb and Claude Latty. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where his family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Military honors will be under the auspices of American Legion Post 439.
