Nowaczyk, Hortencia "Elva" Birch Run, MI
Passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at her home, age 81 years.Elva was born in Saginaw, Michigan June 26, 1934 the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Alvarez) Ceja. She married James Nowaczyk October 4, 1952 and he survives her. Elva was a former member of Assumption BVM Catholic church where she was in charge of the Bingo program. She was an avid bingo player and loved going to the casino. She was the former owner of the Leading Lady Beauty Salon in Saginaw and Frankenmuth; the Dixie Giant Wash in Saginaw and the Evergreen Retirement Home, and for many years worked as a teller at the Saginaw Harness Raceway, where she made and met many dear friends. Besides her husband, James, Elva is survived by three children, Christopher Nowaczyk, Susan (James) DeLude and Mark (Lori) Nowaczyk; six grandchildren, Steven, Sarah, Lindsay, Alicia, Ashley and Katie Rose; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry, Noel (Marie) , Harold and Hector Ceja; her sister-in-law, Debbie Ceja; many nieces and nephews, including Scotty; her dear "morning coffee" friends, Amelia and Mickey. Elva was a caring and lovely mother. She was predeceased by a son, Larry and three siblings, Helen, Raul and Elpedia.
Funeral liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Parish, St. Christopher Site, 3945 Williamson Rd. Rev. Fr. John Mancini will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 5700 Dixie Highway Thursday from 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the services.
