Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the age of 77 years.
Howard was born on December 8, 1946, son of the late Norman and Maggie (Prater) Gave, in Bulan, Kentucky. He was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, Class of 1969, having earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science. He then was employed by the Saginaw County District Court Probation Office; and later went on to the University of Detroit Law School, Class of 1976, having earned a Juris Doctorate Degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Howard then took a position with the United States Immigration Department in California before returning to the Saginaw County. He was appointed to Assistant Prosecutor by Robert Kaczmzrek and later to Chief Assistant Prosecutor under Michael Thomas, retiring in 2016 after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Saginaw Bar Association and St. Mark Lutheran Church. Howard married Wendy Lich on October 14, 1995. She survives him. Howard was a MSU Football Fan, enjoyed watching Sci-Fi Movies and the History Channel, but ultimately was an avid reader full of knowledge. Howard loved traveling Up North with Wendy, spending time at Mackinaw City. He enjoyed the serenity of the outdoors, whether it was camping, canoeing or caring for the small wildlife in the backyard.
Howard is survived by his wife, Wendy Gave; their children, Aaron (Angela) Gave, Amanda Emeott (Matt Rogers), Adam Gave, Jeremy (Tara) Olivarez and Robert (Mandy) Adams; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; special cousin, who he loved as a brother, Gordy Gave; special friends, Dennis Ladd and John Syts.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Road. Rev. Kirk Abatelli will officiate with burial in Owen Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company, 201 N.
