Iona Erma Sensabaugh

Went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Age 85 years. Iona was born on November 30, 1939, in Coleman, Michigan to the late Floyd and Eva (Weidman) Yarger. She graduated from Hemlock High School. Iona married Dale Sensabaugh on June 13, 1964; he predeceased her on April 7, 1999. They raised their family in Freeland where Iona was a stay at home mom. She and Dale were competitive ballroom dancers. Iona was very giving and supported local charities for animals and veterans. She enjoyed doing word searches, playing bingo and watching Wheel of Fortune. She loved Elvis, the song Amazing Grace, the spring and warm weather, vanilla ice cream, and was known for her famous homemade sugar cookies. Above all she loved Jesus, her family, and her fur babies, especially Tabbe, her beloved cat of 17 years.

Surviving are her daughter Darla K. Sensabaugh, son Eugene R. Sensabaugh, a granddaughter Lisa and grandson Michael, three great-grandchildren, brother David Yarger, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Iona was predeceased by her siblings: Ruth Westmoreland, Nancy Martin, Floyd Yarger Jr., and Lorretta Martindale and several relatives.

The family would like to thank Advanced Hospice Care, with a special thanks to Kayla, whose vibrant personality brought joy and laughter to Iona and for jazzing up her nails.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd. Pastor Ben Cutshall will officiate with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeland. Friends will be received at the funeral chapel from 6:00 pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday as well as Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service.
