Irene Lee Stevens

Irene Lee Stevens of Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 13, 2019, at her home. She was 77 years old. Irene Lee Ostrander was born on December 16, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Elmer and Lillian (Ellsworth) Ostrander. She was a proud 1959 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, she married James Henry Stevens on April 8, 1960 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on July 21, 2002. Irene was employed for 27 1//2 years at Eaton Manufacturing; retiring in 2004. She enjoyed bowling, embroidering, and gardening. Above all she loved and cherished her family, but treasured her two cats, JJ and Jill. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful spirit, her selflessness to everyone she loved, and for being the best mother anyone could have. Surviving are four daughters and one son: Bonnie Dutcher of Clio; Kathy (Robert) Girardin of Grayling; Marie (Jack) Walter of Bay City; Donna (Douglas) LaBeff of Saginaw; Dale Stevens of Beaverton; eight grandchildren: Todd, Karen, Billy, Robert, Katie, Amber, Ashley, and Taylor; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters: Elmer Ostrander of Bad Axe; Arlene Leary of Saginaw; Peggy Capobianco of Saginaw; Deborah (Larry) Matuszewski of Linwood. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by a son William "Bill" J. Stevens; great-grandson, Joseph Lee Propp. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
