Irene White of Saginaw, Michigan
Loving mother, grandmother and dear friend passed away on February 12, 2020 at Stone Crest Assisted Living. She was 92 years old. Irene was born on October 1, 1927 in Dreyfus, Kentucky to the late Granderson and Florence (Chasteen) Clark. She graduated as Valedictorian from Kingston High School in Kingston, Kentucky in 1945. Irene later married Ledo White Jr. on March 28, 1945 in Berea, Kentucky. The couple shared 50 years together before Ledo passed away on July 16, 1994.
Irene has been a member of Hopevale Church since 1966. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and quilting. Irene was a loving grandmother and enjoyed quality time with her grandchildren. She was also known by all of the neighborhood children as Grammy White. Irene was a bus driver for Saginaw Township for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
Surviving her are her children Judy ( Richard) Fahrner, Joyce White, and Jane White. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Adam Fahrner, Heather (Jeff Huff) Fahrner, L. Kyle (Tina) Fahrner, Joseph White, Matthew (Audrey Forest) Gill, Robert Gill, Julie Gill Gleason and her great grandchildren; Madison Fahrner, Braden Fahrner, Lauren Vourvordis, Steven Denemark, Hanna Huff, Hayley Huff, Ashlee Huff, Bree Gill and Grant Gill. Also surviving are her sister Pauline Calico of Berea, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews as well as her special friends Phyllis Kastorf and Liz Visuri.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Ledo, and her granddaughter Amy Lynn Fahrner. Also passing before her are her siblings; Verlia Lunsford, Edward Clark, Fannie Cummins, Hazel McCoy, Ida Hall, Ella Patton, John Clark, Arnold Clark, Anne Clark, and Reba Lutes.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020, at Hopevale Church, 4873 North Center Road, Saginaw. Pastor Sam Burke will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16 at W.L. Case and Company, 201 North Miller Road, Saginaw and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at Hopevale Church.
