Irving Stanley Brown of Merrill, Michigan
Our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Son, Brother, and Friend passed away on February 8, 2020, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Irving Stanley Brown was born on January 21, 1938, in Potterville, Michigan to the late Horace and Eva (Frost) Brown. He moved to the Merrill area as a child and remained there his entire life. While he was in high school, the class of 1956, he met the love of his life, Carolyn Novak. They married on September 24, 1960, after Irving served 23 months in the U. S. Army. He was a proud veteran and an active member of the Hemlock-Merrill VFW post #7302. He retired from General Motors after 30 plus years of service. Irving was the happiest working with his hands. He loved his garden, taking care of his yard, and working in his workshop building bird houses and feeders. During the summer he loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends, or traveling around the U.S. taking family vacations. He always looked forward to deer camp with the boys.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn; children: Stanley and Kim Brown, Annette and Tom Guettler, Daniel and Shirley Brown; grandchildren: Benjamin and Michelle, Michael and Jessica, Laura, Joshua, Brandon and his fiance, Libby, Brittney and Justin; four great-grandchildren; three little ones that called him grandpa; brothers: Jesse and Barb, William and Marsha; sister, Margaret; sisters-in-law: Caroline, Luella, and Lillian. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and friends he called family, especially Chuck and Sherry Braband.
Irving was preceded in death by a grandson, David Guettler, a special prayer partner, Joshua DuRussell; siblings: Charles and Darlene Brown, Gerald Brown, Delbert Foster, and Jack Novak
