Jacinta (Correa) Zapata of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend was guided home surrounded by her family after a brief illness on Sunday, February 23, 2020. She was 89 years old. Jacinta Correa was born on September 11, 1930, in Primera, Texas, to the late Appolonio and Maria (Correa) Cortez. She married the love of her life, Santiago M. Zapata, Sr., on January 16, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan; he preceded her in death on May 16, 1984. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Peter Zapata and Santiago Zapata Jr.; a sister, Benita Vidal; and a brother, Jesus Correa. Jacinta enjoyed sticker book puzzles, bird watching, and watching westerns. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to Mexican music. Above all, she loved and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She will forever be remembered for her strong will, unending love, and for her beautiful soul.
Surviving are eight children: Roberto Zapata; Elizabeth and her husband, Paz Landeros; Mary and her husband, George Washington Jr.; Jorge and his loving wife, Lorenza Zapata; Rebecca Guerrero; devoted son, Paul T. Zapata; Angelita Zapata; and Alicia Zapata; 17 grandchildren; many great-great-grandchldren; five sisters: Dolorez Mendez, Juanita Perez, Guadalupe DeLeon, Esperanza Trevino, Maria Gutierrez; one brother, Alberto Correa; and her beloved dog and constant companion, Chato.
A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Ministers Linda and Dan Kinde will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
