Ryder, Jack Alan Saginaw, MI
Passed away at home on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Age 83 years.
Jack Alan Ryder was born June 10, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Thelma C. (Joyce) and John D. Ryder. He graduated from Clio High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952 (during the Korean War) and was stationed primarily at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Jack was employed by Consumers Power Company and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on both the Board of Finance and the Board of Elders. An avid Model Railroader for many years, he was a founding father of the Saginaw Railway Museum on Maple Street. He now lives with his savior in Heaven.
Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn (Winterstein) Ryder; three sons and their wives, Paul and Sandy Ryder of Deltona, FL, Lyle and Bonnie Ryder, and Mark and Trudy Ryder, all of Saginaw; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Marvin Good, of Saginaw; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1020 Court St. The Rev. Carl Otto will officiate with burial and military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 439 in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on the family at the W. L. Case Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, on Thursday from 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the Church from Noon until the time of service.
