Jack Jay Bethurum

Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away November 18, 2023, at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center. Age 93 years. Jack was born June 8, 1930, in Nashville, TN, the son of the late John and Nina (Pratt) Bethurum. He married Carole J. Laurin: she predeceased him February 21, 2004. Jack proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1947-1953, during the Korean War. He received the Army of Occupation Medal in Japan, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.

Surviving are his daughter, Kathy (Michael) Potucek, Saginaw; three grandchildren: Beth (Andy) Karl, Ashley (Jake) Reynolds, and Amanda (Bobby Hubbard) Potucek; four great-grandchildren: Jax and Eli Karl, Penny and Lucy Reynolds; two sisters-in-law: Linda Squires and Carolyn Laurin; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carole Bethurum, his parents, John and Nina Bethurum, and siblings-in-law.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Arrangements were entrusted to W.L.
