James B. Garrett Saginaw, MI Passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Hoyt Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 98 years. Jim was born September 25, 1915, to the late Fred and Nellie (McMann) Garrett in Davenport, Iowa. He was educated there and stayed until his enlistment in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1942 until 1945. He retired from Baker Perkins after 35 years as V.P. of Sales and Marketing. He then worked as a consultant with Banner Day Company of Saginaw. He enjoyed Saddle Horses, gardening, and rail trails. He belonged to the Saginaw Club, American Society of Bakers, Navy League, and Honest John. He is survived by his wife Mary Garrett; and sister-in-law, Eloise Garrett and children. He was predeceased by his son James D. Garrett; siblings, John E. Garrett and June Garrett Taylor; nephew, David Garrett; and niece, Kathleen Gordon Garrett. The family would like to extend a thank-you to Dr. Harry Blair and staff, the Hoyt Nursing Home and Rehabilitation staff, Hospice Advantage, and the staff at Covenant Hospitals for the care they provided to Jim. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013, at St. Stephen Catholic Church 1310 Malzahn. Fr. William R. Taylor will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of service.
