Gehringer, James Courtney

Passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at home surrounded by his family at the age of 76 years. The son of the late Emil and Genieve (Brabant) Gehringer was born on May 7, 1939 in Saginaw. He married Lorraine Russell on June 5, 1965; she survives him. James retired from Vescio's Supermarket in 1982 after 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. James was also a life member of National Association of the Physically Handicapped, and served as building chairman of Averill Center. He enjoyed woodworking, playing card games and was an avid BINGO player. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine, and their children: Lisa M. Gehringer, David and his wife Kathleen Gehringer, grandchildren: Arica C. Gehringer, Alexis C. Gehringer, his sisters: Joan C. Little, Janice Hill, Judy (Bob) Sleamon, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Jack (Lila) Gehringer, and brother-in-law Dale Hill. The family would like to especially thank all the caregivers for their loving care and support to Jim. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev. Rachel A.M. Laughlin will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday at the funeral chapel from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
