James Aaron “Jim” Davis of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 11, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Saginaw. He was 83 years old. James A. Davis was born on September 20, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Robert and Pauline (Smith) Davis. He attended Ann Arbor Public Schools. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army form 1963 – 1966, serving in Germany and stateside until this honorable discharge. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Dixie Lee Favel, while at a local pub. They began dating, fell in love, and were united in marriage on April 1, 1967, in Saginaw; she survives him. He was employed as a core maker with Saginaw Grey Iron, retiring after 42 years of loyal and dedicated service. A family man at heart, the role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and especially grandfather. Having grandchildren made his heart feel whole and his life complete. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Jim found joy in the simple pleasures in life, eating snacks and sitting in the front row attending all his grandson’s sporting events. He also enjoyed traveling with Dixie, especially to California and going on family camping trips. Jim will forever be remembered for the loving nicknames he gave those he loved, for always telling family to “be safe”, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Dixie L. Davis of Saginaw Township; a son, Jim (Karen) Davis of Saginaw Township; two grandsons: Brandon Davis of Saginaw Township; Devin Davis “too tall” and “big stick” of Saginaw Township; half-brothers and half-sisters: Virginia Potts of IN; Jack Booher of VA; Kim Davis of Vassar; Patsy Davis of Saginaw; Dennis Davis of Saginaw; a special sister-in-law, Linda Davis of CA; Jim also fulfilled the role of “Papa” to Brad Ehlers of Gladwin; Brayden Ehlers of Beaverton; and special friends: Kevin (Kristine) Ehelers of Beaverton; two angel neighbors: Ray Torres of Saginaw Township; Corina Vlassis of Saginaw Township. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends, too numerous to mention, but held closely to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pauline Davis; a wonderful kindhearted stepmother, Evelyn Davis; a brother, Bob Allen Davis; a sister, Jo Lynn Davis; a half-sister, Judy Boower; and a half-brother, Mike Davis.
Honoring Jim wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI, 48603. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate. Military honors will follow under the auspice of the United States Army and American Legion Post #22.
