Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the age of 83 years.
The son of the late Andrew and Ruth (Dolhof) Leuenberger was born on September 28, 1936 in Saginaw. He married Linda L. Holubik in 1974; she survives him. James taught at Saginaw Public Schools, Saginaw High School and Mackinaw Middle School. After his retirement from teaching, he worked for Isabella Community Credit Union, retiring from there in 1998 after 18 years of service. James was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Parish. He enjoyed cross country skiing, fishing, hunting, gardening and was always up for a game of Euchre with friends and family.
Surviving besides his wife of 45 years, Linda, are their children: Debra (Donald) Brinson, James A. Leuenberger, Brett Leuenberger, and Meg Leuenberger, 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his sister Jean (John) Maurer, cousin Jack (Judy) Mann, and aunt and uncle Erma and James Mann.
In accordance with James’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial liturgy will take place later at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Parish in Clare.
