James K. Smith Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away suddenly on November 27, 2019, at the age of 84 years. The son of the late Henry E. and Helen M. (Sny) Smith, was born on April 2, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. He proudly served in the United States Armed Forces until Honorably Discharged in 1961. James married Arbutus "Ardie" Mae Willman on March 19, 1955 in Hemlock, Michigan; she survives him. He was a supervisor at General Motors, retiring with 30 years of service in 1997. James enjoyed being outside doing yard work or maintaining his cars. Above all, he loved the time spent with his family; especially his fur babies, as he was an animal lover.
Surviving besides his wife of 64 years, Ardie, are two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Mark A. and Jane Smith, Kenneth J. and Shannon Smith, Tammy M. and Jeff Spraque; grandchildren, Emily Smith, Alan Smith, Lindsay Weisenbach, Kyle Smith, Allisha Jenkins, Ryan Smith, Morgan Smith, Dayton Sprague; and a sister Debra (Richard) Kaczor. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, James is preceded in death by a son, James K. "Jim" Smith; a granddaughter, Amber J. Sprague; a brother, Henry Smith; and a sister, Kathleen Smith.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2019 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Paul Hinz will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the funeral chapel and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Humane Society.
