James A. Kurtz, a dedicated community member and cherished family man, passed away on August 18, 2024, at Covenant Cooper. Born on December 27, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan, James spent his life making significant contributions both personally and professionally.

James proudly owned and operated Kurtz-Hilman Automotive Center, where he built a reputation for quality service and commitment to his customers. In addition to his entrepreneurial spirit, he was a retired teacher from Saginaw Township Schools, where he influenced countless students and colleagues with his passion for education and mentorship.

James is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn A. Kurtz, and their two sons, Damon Kurtz, and Theodore Kurtz. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Emily Kurtz, Nicholas Kurtz, and Reagan Kurtz; brother-in-law, Ed Becker; sister-in-law, Susan Kurtz. Additionally, James cherished his relationships with several nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred H., and Rita K. (Elliott) Kurtz, brother, John Kurtz, and sister Elizabeth Becker, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication to family.

James A. Kurtz will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the love and warmth he brought to the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years.

A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday August 23, 2024, at the W.L Case and Company Funeral Directors 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev Amy Terhune will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
