James Lewis Matteson

James Lewis Matteson Bridgeport, Michigan Loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the age of 68 years. James was born November 8, 1948, in Flint, Michigan to the late Lewis and Marian (Whittaker) Matteson. He was a 4th grade teacher for 39 years at the Bridgeport Spaulding School District. He had a deep fondness for Florida and couldn't wait to get there every year. He liked trips to the casino and playing cards with his friends. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends in the North-South Golf Invitational. Jim lived life to the fullest and there were so many things he loved to do. He will be dearly missed by his cherished wife of 16 years, Sue (Sawyers) Matteson; children, Jennifer (Brian) Cummings, Thomas Matteson, Bradley (Shelley) Matteson; grandchildren, Ashley and Braylee; and many close friends. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at W.L. Case & Company 5700 Dixie Hwy. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with private burial in Pinegrove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at the funeral home from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 until the time of service.
