James passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Wellspring Senior Living in Frankenmuth where he has spent the last nine years, he was 79 years of age. James was born on November 21, 1940 to the late George May and Eileen Kwaiser in Fosters, Michigan. During the 1950’s he graduated from Saginaw High and became a member of the United States Army, he served his country for two years. James was described as a handyman; he was a jack of all trades, and he dabbled in many jobs because of his various talents. Although he worked several different types of jobs, he did spend several years working for General Motors. James was a member of the Bridgeport Eagles club for many years, his hobbies included playing poker, watching soap operas, and being outdoors and relaxing in the sunshine. He enjoyed spending time at the court house being a spectator to local cases but most of all he cherished his time spent with family and his grandchildren. He is survived by his two children Carey (Robert) Schian and Brian May as well as his grandchildren; Jonathan Poole, Mikayla Hensel, Samantha Schian and Alexandria Schian. James is also survived by his siblings; Nancy Giltrop, Sally Mikula, Tom (Sue) May, Steve May and his sister in law, Zelmer May and many beloved nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his siblings, Jerry May, Jackie LaChance and Bobby May. Also preceding him in death is his step father Joseph Gaertner and his two brothers in law Michael Giltrop and Carl Mikula. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
