James "Jim" Anthony Grant, Jr.

James A. “Jim” Grant Jr. of Birch Run, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 63 years old. James Anthony Grant Jr. was born on March 17, 1957, the first of seven children born to James and Maryanne (French) Grant Sr. He was a proud 1975 graduate of Birch Run High School. Jim met the love of his life and soul mate, Janet Marie Sheldon, through his sister. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 12, 1984, in Saginaw; she survives him. Jim was employed as a truck driver his entire life. He was a faithful member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Birch Run. Jim believed in helping others and often gave back to his community through volunteering; making a difference in this world as a volunteer fireman for the Taymouth Township Fire Department and as a coach for Parents For Youth (PFY). Jim was also a member of the Albee Senior and Friends. He enjoyed hunting and watching sports, but what he loved the most was spending time with family. Jim will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his loving and generous heart, and for being the most dedicated and devoted husband, father, and grandfather ever.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Janet M. Grant of Birch Run; daughter, Bethany (Steven) Gibbs of Saginaw; son, James (Kayla) Grant III of Clio; granddaughter, Hadlee James Grant with two grandchildren on the way; parents, James and Maryanne Grant of Vanderbilt; six siblings: Thomas (Sandy) Grant of Birch Run; Anne Grant of Clio; Laura (Dick) Letterman of Birch Run; Barb Huber of Birch Run; Lisa (Pat) Kenny of Hemlock; Mark (Nancy) Grant of Onaway; and his buddy, Conner Konieczny of Birch Run. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Daniel Huber.
