James "Jim" Katsoulos
Birch Run, Michigan
Gone too soon, we are saddened to announce the passing of James Socrates Katsoulos. Jim was born in 1958 to John and Eva Jane Katsoulos. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Patty Cosgrove, his beloved daughter Sarah Jane Davis, her husband Steve and his granddaughter Zoe James - his namesake. He also lives on through his brother Bill (Marylou) Moroski, sister Eva (Buck) Stone, stepbrother Chris (Gwen) Gambol, Aunt Pauline Kitsigianis, Cousin Kathy (Michael) Neumann, Geliann Kitsigianis (John Bell), nephew Ezra Katsoulos and niece Yetta (Rob) Force.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Eva Jane Katsoulos, his stepsister Elizabeth Krauss, his Uncle Evans and his niece Helga Moroski.
Jim was a 1976 graduate of Oxford High School. He was talented at anything he dared to explore - and nothing was ever out of reach. His first endeavor was as a chef at Oxford Big Boy with his good friend, Brad Dodge. He then followed the Big Boy path as a manager at the family-owned Bridgeport Big Boy which led to driving semi-truck for Big Boy corporate. But, like his bloodline that preceded him, he was an entrepreneur at heart. He established JK Contracting and found tremendous success in remodeling Big Boys and various restaurants across the state of Michigan, turning houses into homes through extensive remodels and was a true jack-of-all-trades.
Jim's passion & hobby was the automobile. From a very young age he was fascinated and could recite in extraordinary detail about every make and model, with a particular penchant for the late 60's muscle cars. His hobbies included boating and camping with Patty, spending time with his family which more often than not included the most famous of all Katsoulos traits, eating!
Jim was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. His health issues were abrupt to start but long and brutal with a 2-year battle with cancer. He fought with remarkable bravery and dignity and always put others before himself. We wish to thank the many friends who kept him in their prayers throughout this difficult time - he is now at peace.
Funeral services will be held privately. Those wishing an expression of sympathy may wish to consider University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
